Review - ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint
It's 2024- foundation is out and skin tint is in. Recently, all the beauty girlies have been opting for a more natural and lighter product rather than a full coverage foundation. Because of this shift, cosmetics brands have been releasing skin tints like crazy. Some of the most popular ones include the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter and its dupe, the e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter. Personally, I think the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint is pretty underrated.
It takes a lot for me to repurchase a foundation, and as soon as I used up my last drop of this skin tint, I ran to Sephora to snatch up another one.
As it is a skin tint, it is a somewhat lighter coverage. While I do love the lightweight feel of the minimal coverage this product provides, I do tend to add extra on my red spots to make sure they are as covered as possible, as these are a big insecurity of mine. For the rest of my skin aside from these patches on my lower cheeks, the amount of coverage is perfect. It really is the definition of the popular saying "your skin, but better."
A major positive of this product is its ingredients. It is called the Super Serum Skin Tint for a reason; it has some critical skincare ingredients. This skin tint doubles as an SPF 40 sunscreen, which aids in anti-aging and just overall skin health. I often use this on top of my sunscreen, so I feel extra protected from the sun's harmful rays. Additionally, it is made with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, both of which are common serum ingredients. When applied to the skin, it does leave a bit of a sunscreen-like feel on the face, while still feeling lightweight unlike regular foundation. It also feels nourishing and hydrating upon application, mainly due to its skincare ingredients.
Speaking of application, let's talk applicator. Many serums come in bottles with a dropper applicator, which is exactly how this skin tint comes as well. I do enjoy the dropper, however it is a little dangerous for a chronic spiller like myself. There have been countless instances in which I have gone to drop the product onto my skin and it has landed on my desk or my shirt. I am sure this could be easily avoided if I just dropped the product onto the back of my hand and applied it from there, but what's the fun in that?
I enjoy the mild glow this leaves on the skin. While it is very minimal, it provides a nice sheen allowing you to feel natural but glowy, especially if paired with other glowy products. This skin tint is definitely on the pricier side, but it is very worth it if you have a few extra dollars to spend. It is primarily sold at Sephora and on the ILIA Beauty website for $48. It comes in 30 different shades, which is a crazy amount, but in the best way. For reference, I wear shade Rendezvous ST1, and I am a pale queen.
By the way, I am currently typing out this blog with the product blended into the back of my hand to ensure that I am providing accurate information.
I love this skin tint. Do with that information what you will.
