Review - La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser

A good cleanser can easily make or break your skin. Cleanser is one of the first skincare products that one should start using at a younger age (not in the minds of the Sephora 10 year olds these days, apparently), so clearly it is a crucial step in a skincare routine for everyone.

I, like many many others, used the CeraVe cleanser Hydrating and Foaming Facial Cleansers for years. Not only did I use it, but I swore by it. I refused to use anything else, even when my mom had suggested the La Roche Posay cleanser.

I recently noticed that my skin began to break out into little bumps across my forehead off and on. I was wondering why this was happening, as I religiously take care of my skin. While I will admit, I definitely don't have the best diet, this was still abnormal for me, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't go away.

In order to combat this issue, my esthetician suggested a new cleanser as well as discontinuing the use of the exfoliating product I was using at the time. She broke the news to me that the CeraVe cleansers contain some pore clogging, not very skin-friendly ingredients. I was devastated. One of the few cleansers she recommended to me was La Roche Posay. I knew my mom had been suggesting this to me for a few months now, and she absolutely raved about it. In that moment talking to my esthetician, I knew it was time for a switch.

The next day, I went out and bought the La Roche Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser. While it is available at Target, Walgreens, Amazon, and the La Roche Posay website, I purchased mine from Ulta. I I have not looked back.

As a combined skin girlie, I had a hard time deciding between this cleanser which is meant for normal to oily skin types and its counterpart for normal to try skin. I ultimately settled on this one. Even if you have combined skin, this cleanser will be perfect when paired with a good moisturizer.

Between the discontinuation of the exfoliator and the implementation of this cleanser into my skincare routine, nearly all of those nasty little bumps on my forehead have vanished. Not only has the cleanser helped my skin, but it also simply feels good to use. It is gentle while still definitely cleansing. I don't use a traditional makeup remover on my skin (I do on my eyes, don't worry), and this cleanser takes everything off perfectly. I genuinely feel clean and soft after using this product.

This cleanser retails at $16.99 ($19.99 at Ulta). While it may not be the cheapest cleanser, it is still a great price for the quality. There are definitely pricier ones out there, and I am willing to bet than this one is better than some of those.

Do yourself a favor and try out a cleanser by La Roche Posay. Your skin will feel so very clean and soft.

  2. Omg I literally have a similar story to yours. I also use CeraVe's foaming cleanser and one of my friends uses the La Roche Posay cleanser that you're using. She's BEEN telling me to try it but I want to finish my current one and I'm kind of iffy about switching cleansers since the CeraVe one is working for me, at least I'm pretty sure it is. After reading your blog, I think I might try it after I'm done with mine and see if I see any changes with my skin.
